Ebony and Midnight, Barn Cats Extraordinaire
| Our cats came to us from Western Montana where they were discovered under a logging truck. Ebony, the older female (spayed), was the young mother of a litter. Midnight, our neutered male, is one of her kittens. |

| When Midnight first arrived on the farm, he was so small as seen in this picture. His size, however, did not inhibit his ego. He has always been quite fearless. Here you see him crawling into Orion's food bowl. If Orion were really possessive, there could have been one less kitten in the world. Midnight is forever teasing Orion. He will make noise and run out to Orion and try to get him to chase the little cat. Midnight will actually let Orion catch him. Midnight even lets Orion mouth him (although he is not too happy with dog saliva all over his fur). We have also seen Santana, one of our male llamas, gently mouth Midnight all over. | ||
| After Ebony was spayed we had to keep her confined during
recovery. she stayed in the large crate on the bottom. We put
the small crate on top and Midnight decided he would stay there.

Our cats own the place. Here you see them lounging on top of the table on the front porch. Good thing we never wanted to use the table. Sadly, Ebony disappeared early in 2001. | |
| Midnight has continued to grow into his role on the farm. He has also become quite the entertainer. Here you can see him performing for us while a lamb was being born behind him (not visible in this shot). | ||
